Scotiæ Tabula -Abraham Ortelius
Source and Description: Additamentum Theatri Orbis Terrarium (Theatre of the Lands of the World) the first comprehensive coherent atlas of the modern European world. There were many editions in multiple languages
Mapmaker (engraver): Abraham Ortelius (Frans Hogenberg)
Publisher: Gilles Coppens de Diest
Date: probably 1592 from the text and numbering(11) on rear, this is a Latin version of the Map earlier than the English version
Condition: very good, un-mounted in an archival quality polyester pocket
Size: 355 x 480mm (14 x 19 inches)
Notes: The date 1573 has been added very tidily by hand at the bottom of the map sometime in the past, this is the date that this map first appeared. The style of colouring is similar to that on the National Library of Scotland copy. Slight Discolouration on centre fold.
